How to Create Bootable PenDrive




You can create a bootable Pendrive to use to deploy Windows Server Essentials. The first step is to prepare the Pendrive by using DiskPart, which is a command-line utility. For information about DiskPart, see DiskPart Command-Line Options.


To create a bootable Pendrive


  1. Insert a Pendrive into a running computer.
  2. Open a Command Prompt window and run as an administrator.
Type diskpart.
  1. In the new command line window that opens, to determine the Pendrive number or drive letter, at the command prompt, type list disk, and then click ENTER. 
  2. The list disk command displays all the disks on the computer. Note the drive number or drive letter of the Pendrive.
  3. At the command prompt, type select disk [no. 1,2,3], where 1,2,3 is the drive number or drive letter of the Pendrive, and then click ENTER.
  4. Type clean, and the click ENTER. This command deletes all data from the Pendrive.
  5. To create a new primary partition on the USB flash drive, type create partition primary, and then click ENTER.
  6. To select the partition that you just created, type select partition 1, and then click ENTER.
  7. Type active, and then click ENTER.
  8. To format the partition, type format fs=ntfs quick, and then click ENTER.
  9. Type exit, and then click ENTER.

When you finish preparing your bootable pendrive then used :-


  1. Restore a full system from an existing computer or laptop backup
  2. Restore or repair your server running Windows Server Essentials
  3. For new windows installation in Computer or laptop
